3 ) Can you help me find a job?
ICK does not suggest a formal employment service as such, but we do help students in searching occupation. ICK is well associated in the fitness industry and we have a great cooperation of fitness contacts worldwide. In the previous we have helped many of our students to search occupation.

We suggest a free occupation and sorted ads devisions on our website to help students in searching work. Many of these labour suggestions are subscribed by former students who now perform their own fitness business or who are promoted to larger, reputable establishments in arranging positions.

As one of our certified instructor you will be greatly acknowledged by these employers. We guess of an instance where one of our students was employed for a fitness position without even having to dperform an interview, due to our high standards and perfect reputation..


4 ) Which course should I choose?
First you must make up your mind if you would appriciate performing with people or with groups.

  • If you will appriciate performing individually with people you should choose doing the Personal Fitness Trainer class.
  • If you will satisfy leading groups or operating in front of people you may be better off specifying in the group fitness classes by performing the Group Fitness Instructor class.
  • If satisfy both of the above and you desire to pursue a full-time career in fitness we advise that you select the Fitness
    Practitioner Course.

5 ) Which group fitness elective should I choose?
If you are deciding the Group Fitness Instructor devision, you will have to select your elective disciplines. To operate this you demand to think over you talents, interests and previous experience. Consider what sports and occupations you have realized before and currently satisfaction doing. What are your strong and weak points?

  • Do you have an experience in dance or martial arts? If so, Aerobics & Step or Kickboxing may be the best location to begin.

6 ) What if I have chosen electives that are held on the same dates?
This is sometimes true for partial time students, as they have only so many weekends in a year on which we can plan coaching. In this case you will simply visit one scheme during the current class series and then come back to realize the other module during the next course series. You are let a year visit and finish a class.


7) Are ICK courses accredited or recognised?

The ICK certification programme goes on to state a standard of consistuent quality and professionalism and is acknowledged by leading South African fitness service suppliers and employers, inclusively of the Virgin Active health club group and the Planet Fitness health club group. 8 ) Will my qualification be recognised Internationally?
ICK curriculum is coherent with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) recorded unit standards for the National Certificate in Fitness (NQF 5). These qualification standards have been confered against fitness qualification frameworks from Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom and it has a unprecarious degree of analogy. Draft fitness industry legislation is currently being worked out and will be destributed by parliament in the near future.


9 ) What are recognised, equivalent qualifications for RPL students?
ICK qualifications may be reached in full or in part through acknowledgment of prior learning (RPL). RPL consists of, but is not constricted to, studying results reached through formal, informal and non-formal studying and labour experience. To get acknowledgment for certain modules or classes or unit standards candidates must be present with a portfolio for their past formal studying and labour experience.

  • Usually one of the following qualifications may be acknowledged as a fitness-related equivalent:
  • Degree in Human Movement Science
  • Degree in Biokinetics, Physiotherapy, Dietetics or Medicine
  • Diploma in Sport Science or Exercise Technology
  • Equivalent fitness certificate or diploma given by another fitness training provided accredited by SAQA

Even though your presenting qualification(s) may vacate you from certain constituents of a course, you may still be inquired to absolute chosen modules, e.g. Music Appreciation, that are special and genuine to the fitness industry and would not have been constituent of your former coaching. 10 ) How do I know if my existing qualification / experience is equivalent?

11 ) What is a Unit Standard?

13 ) Who is THETA?
The Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority (THETA), is the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) grounded under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) – the Skills Act for the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Economic Sector. THETA holds its occupations within the tourism, hospitality and sport economic sector which includes the following sub-sectors:

  • Tourism and Travel Services
  • Hospitality
  • Gambling and Lotteries
  • Conservation and Guiding
  • Sport, Recreation and Fitness

A SETA’s main function is to make a contribution to the increasing of skills – to deliver skills to the employed, or those desiring to be promoted, in their sector. They have to operate this by assuring that people study skills that are demanded by employers and societies. There is no worth in coaching individuals if they cannot utilize the skills they have studied. Coaching and skills improvement is not just for young people launching their first jobs though it is significant for them too! The skills of people already in jobs must also be improved.
Coaching must be to assented standards, within a nationwide framework wherever probable. It is no good if someone is coached in one province if their qualifications are not acknowledged in another. It is not perfect for one employer to enhance the skills of his or her staff if another employer does not acknowledge them.   1. Develop a sector skills plan

14 ) What if I cannot attend some lectures or training sessions?
Attendance is obligatory. Once you have recorded you are recorded for a whole year. If you are uncapable to visit certain lectures or coaching sessions during the current class series, you may visit it at later level during the next class series. If you do not visit all your lectures and coaching sessions within the first year of record, you will be inquired to re-record for the class before you can visit any further lectures or coaching sessions.
Attendance of all courses and lectures is significant to assure your prosperity and it is therefore obligatory. A 100% class attendance registration is inquired for certification. Students who misfortune to visit  courses or lectures do so at their own feed marks and must admit duty for their absence. Lecturers and presenters will not waste supplementary time or suggest special attention to prior absent students, because this will be at the expense of the other students, and is therefore not appropriate.


15 ) What if I cannot attend the exam / assessment?
Students are let TWO years to finish a class. Examinations and estimations are held twice a year at the end of each Course Series in June/July and January. If you cannot visit the first examination, you will be capable to visit the second examination later in the year.
Please notify that no specific organizations will be carried out for students who are absent from an examination or assessment. Whatever the cause, students who misfortune to visit an examination will have to visit the next examination or assessment as specialized in the Course Schedule. Students are let one year to finish a class.


16 ) When must I hand in my workbook / assignment / portfolio?
A finishing date for subscription is set for each class series. Students who are uncapable to satisfy this deadline and who desire to hand in register after the finishing date will have to expect until the end of the next class series before their outcomes are created accessible and their certificates are published. Students have one year to finish a class and all class labour and portfolios must be finished and subscribed before this time-frame expires. 17 )When must I hand in my logbook for practical hours?

18 ) When will I receive my results?
